Show ReviewPlayboy Funny By Caroline Fontein Going to a comedy club in Las Vegas should feel like more than just seeing a show. Why not make it an event to remember? That’s comedian Paul Hughes’ stance. He along with fellow comedian and friend Cort McCown produce and host Playboy Comedy Club at the Palms. “You can see comedy anywhere. When you come to Las Vegas you want to see something special. Otherwise you can just go to your local comedy club in your home town,” said Hughes. Playboy Comedy Club definitely delivers more than just your average comedy show. Aside from featuring some of the most cutting-edge comedians in the industry, the show also includes an appearance by the Playboy Playmate of the Month, who signs autographs and poses for pictures after the show. “That’s what makes it special. Where else are you going to meet a Playmate?” said Hughes. Before moving to Las Vegas Hughes and McCown did a comedy show together at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. In 2004, they moved to the Palms and started the comedy club, initially called Hollywood Comedy Tour, before teaming up with Playboy in 2006. Hughes both emcees and performs in the show along with McCown. His self-deprecating humor and edgy observations on life and Las Vegas get the crowd warmed up before McCown and the headliners take the stage. Since the show is only once a month, Hughes and McCown are able to book headliners that have been on TV or in movies who might not otherwise have time for a performance in Las Vegas. “The good thing is it’s once a month so it’s a special engagement. It doesn’t get flat or stale, it’s always fresh with new faces,” said Hughes. Some of their past headliners include Harland Williams, Joel Mchale, Bryan Callen, Steve Byrne, Doug Benson, Tammy Pescateli, Julie McCullogh, Daniel Tosh, Todd Glass, Jon Reep and Eddie Ifft. “If you come to laugh, you’re gonna laugh. It’s at the Palms so it’s got a good energy, and it’s Playboy so it’s definitely more contemporary,” said Hughes. Guests who purchase the combo ticket can start their evening off with some laughs at the Playboy Comedy Club and then dance the night away at the Playboy Club located on the 52nd floor of the Palms' Fantasy Tower. It's a great way to have an evening out on the town without having to worry about waiting in line for a club or paying the hefty admission fee. If you’re looking for a hysterically funny and sexy night of comedy then this is the place to be. “Short of going to the Playboy Mansion this is the next best thing,” said Hughes. |
