Show ReviewVampire vixens
By Caroline Fontein If you are looking for an edgier show with an interesting storyline, provocative dancers, aerialists and talented singing, then you will definitely want to experience a taste of Bite at the Stratosphere. It goes beyond the boundaries of the more standard and considerably safer shows in Las Vegas and is a nice slice of entertainment with a story line narrated through the lyrics of '70s and '80s rock hits. As the stage darkens and figures cloaked in black velvet shrouds roam the audience, the Lord Vampire, whose voice sounds much like the Lord of Darkness character from the movie "Legend," comes over the loudspeaker to announce his quest to find a new soul mate from a member in the audience after his was taken from him over 400 years ago. He explains that while he has found mild satisfaction with his Erotic Rock Angels they are no match for true love. Smoke fills the stage and the Erotic Rock Angels reveal themselves from behind their black shrouds in a seductive dance number to Guns N' Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle.” Then the Lord Vampire appears on the stage while the Rolling Stone’s song, “Sympathy for the Devil” plays in the background. The music selection, from artists such as Def Leppard, AC/DC, Heart, Ozzy Osbourne, and Twisted Sister to name a few, can be appreciated by anyone who loves rock 'n’ roll. At different parts in the show the dancers are topless, but it seems fitting as part of the story line rather than just being a topless show. Their outfits leave little to the imagination, but what else would a coven of hedonistic female vampires be wearing? They gyrate and thrash around on stage in ways that you might not otherwise think the human body was capable of moving, but then they also do some slow numbers, more reminiscent of ballet, proving that they have all had professional dance training. After what would seem like more than enough suggestive dance numbers to tempt most men, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” is played to explain that the Lord Vampire is still in search of something more than just the seductive pleasures he gets from his Erotic Rock Angels. He commands them to bring women from the audience on stage so he can make a final selection for his soul mate. The show takes a surprising turn and before you know it there are two aerialists effortlessly spinning in mid air above the audience from chains in the ceiling. A narrow curtain hanging from the ceiling appears in another part of the theater as the medium for yet another aerialist to climb, twist, turn and contort her body while hanging above the crowd. Apart from just the dancing and aerialists there is also an element of magic as people appear and disappear from the stage at different times in the show, and if this is not enough to satisfy your appetite for entertainment, the show also features the talent of a phenomenal singer who becomes a live version of the rock hits soundtrack. The show is an all-around thrilling entertainment spectacular that takes the classic love story to another level of daring excitement and intrigue, perfect for an audience looking to explore their wild side. |
