Show Review

There's more to this 'Fantasy' than just flesh

By Pj Perez

Fantasy, the Luxor hotel-casino's racy topless revue, is a little bit trashy, a little bit classy and a whole lot of fun.

Some of Las Vegas' most beautiful women star in this fast-paced, sensual show, which features top-notch choreography by Eddie Garcia and Cris Judd set to a sexy and bumping R&B and pop soundtrack.

From the opening number, where the gorgeous stars of the show strut their stuff in lingerie on an industrial set reminiscent of a strip club, to the closing piece performed to the show's theme song, Fantasy takes audience members on a risqué and dazzling trip through what Fantasy singer and emcee Stephanie Jordan calls "eight of the most beautiful fantasies you've ever seen."

The dance moves and scenarios cover the male fantasy gamut, from a frolicking bedroom threesome to a strap-dance between dancers that recalls S&M imagery. Set to songs such as "Roxanne," "Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy" and "Black Velvet," the talented and sexy performers of Fantasy can be at times playful, seductive or just plain fantastic.

Though this is a topless show - and right from the start, tops are flying off - the semi-nudity is not gratuitous. It merely contributes to the loose, fast and fun environment of the intimate theater space.

Fantasy also indulges in some tongue-in-cheek diversions, most of which are provided by multi-talented male dancer/impersonator/singer Sean Cooper, who first appears break dancing in a production number, but later serves as the focal entertainment while sets and dancers' costumes are changed. His takes on such icons as James Brown, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Michael Jackson are hilarious.

Cooper also helps Jordan draw a volunteer from the audience to take a more active role in the show. After some snappy banter and personal embarrassment (all in fun), the lucky volunteer earns the right to appear on stage with the ladies of Fantasy - as none other than Elvis Presley.

Of course, these are momentary distractions, and the show smoothly transitions back into risqué scenes of naughty schoolteachers, teasing cowgirls and sexy street-walkers.

The show features a new number as well, one which blurs the lines between genders and features an original song written by Darren Sher and Judd, "Don't Stop," which blends perfectly with the rest of the hot soundtrack and the sultry dancing.

From beginning to end, Fantasy will have you on the edge of your seat - either unconsciously moving to the music or inadvertently finding yourself drawn toward the stage. Either way, it's a fantasy you won't soon forget.
